Kajans designs services and programmes to meet the needs of the local geographical area and the region, delivering mainstream education, training and capacity building programmes for the voluntary and community sectors; specialising in arts education and cultural activities.

Kajans works in partnership with a range of local organisations, (youth and community groups, local schools, local authorities and the private sector) to ensure that there is regular consultation with the community, which informs the design of its services. Kajans work includes:

- Commissioned curriculum activities for young people, children and adults developed and delivered in partnership with a range of educational institutions and professionals.
- Capacity building programmes for the voluntary and community sector.
- A significant programme of arts activities for young people and adults, developed at the Albert Hall and also as part of outreach programmes.
- A youth arts programme and an international dance summer school, which is successful in attracting professional tutors from the Caribbean, African, Asia, Europe and Britain.
